Samuel Bollendorff, membre du collectif Oeil Public, a réalisé pour TIME Magazine un sujet sur Le rapt du Mékong.

“La Chine s’attaque au Mékong. Le gouvernement chinois a décidé de transformer le fleuve en une autoroute pour le commerce régional et en une source d’énergie électrique. Huaneng Group, la plus grande société hydroélectrique chinoise, dirigée par le fils de l’ancien premier ministre Li Peng, a huit barrages en projet sur le fleuve.
Deux ont déjà été terminés sans qu’aucune étude sur l’impact environnemental n’ait été réalisée.
Le géant de Xiaowan, 4200 megawatt, est le plus grand barrage chinois aprèscelui des Trois Gorges.

Plus loin sur le fleuve, les habitants de la Thaïlande, du Laos, ou encore du Cambodge sont privés de crue, de limon, de poisson et de riz…”

Mickaël Asser va effectuer avec son ami, Franck Gourdin, la traversée de la Corée du Nord en courant et relier ainsi Pyongyang à Séoul (Corée du Sud) du 11 au 22 avril 2008. A 28 ans et après avoir couru 17 marathons, ce périple de 300 km sera son 6ème ultra-marathon (lac Titicaca, Paris-Londres, Macédoine-Albanie, Népal, Afghanistan). Cette course se veut être un symbole de l’espoir de réunification des deux Corées.

A l’occasion de la sortie d’Abysses, le dernier album de Tri Yann, et de leur passage à l’Olympia, Jean-Louis Jossic, l’un des “trois Jean” historique m’a accordé un long entretien.

Le temps d’écouter le chanteur et musicien parler de Bretagne, de voyage, de patrimoine, de son mandat nantais.

A l’invitation de Sylvain Grolleau, d’Alternative Nomade, plusieurs de mes vidéos dont “Telebabouches” sont projetés dans Le Bus.

LE BUS est une création proposée par un collectif marseillais et produit par Le Caravansérail, société de création audiovisuelle et de design sonore. Leur démarche artistique s’articule autour du voyage et de la rencontre, elle mêle cinéma documentaire, art vidéo, photographie et chronique de voyage.

Proche du public, des gens, avec eux, Alternative Nomade se concrétise aujourd’hui sous la forme d’une structure de diffusion originale et symbolique : un bus dissimulé sous un chapiteau, ou pouvant être stationné dans une halle/friche. Sous cette structure pouvant accueillir en même temps soixante à soixante-dix personnes, une vingtaine de passagers pénètrent à l’intérieur du bus par la porte avant, dans la partie simulateur, et une autre vingtaine dans le salon documentaire. Le déambulatoire, lieu de convivialité et d’exposition reste en libre accès.

Moussa Kaka est journaliste pour Radio France Internationale au Niger.
Il est est en prison depuis le 20 septembre 2007 pour avoir donné la parole aux rebels (à l’opposition).
Il ne faisait que son travail, permettant l’existence d’un droit fondamental: le droit à l’information et de la liberté de la presse.
Il est toujours en prison pour complicité de déstabilisation de l’Etat.

Terakaft is one of the best saharan band from the “Ishumar” movement.
Terakaft is a gang of guitarists, in the same vein as Tinariwen. Nothing astonishing about that if you consider that Terakaft was founded by Kedou and Diara, two formative and historical guitarists from Tinariwen.
Moreover Kedou accompanied Tinariwen to the very first Festival with the Desert by Chock-Essako in January 2001, and contributes four songs on their first album The Radio Tisdas Sessions.
At that time Keddou decided to take a different path to Tinariwen, which is now famous in the four corners of the globe. He left to live for two years in Algeria, in Tindouf, Tamanrasset, and then for the same period in Libya, in the desert in the south of the country. Finally, he has returned to settle in Kidal, in Mali, to the great joy of his friends and Tuareg brothers.
Kedou is a celebrity in his own land, both thanks to his part in the history of the rebellion as to his songs. He has teamed up with Diara, one of the original members of Tinariwen, and one of the more “rock’n'roll” guitarists in the group, as well as two young guitarists, Sanou and Rhissa.
It was at the Festival with the Desert of Essakane, in January a 2007, that Terakaft performed their ifirst concert, following it with the Festival of the Camel of Tessalit, before going to Bamako, to record this first album, in four days, at the legendary Bogolan Studios.
Terakaft means “the caravan” in tamashek.

Dear Friends,

Yesterday I received an urgent email from Lynn DeFreitas, Director of Friends of the Great Salt Lake, telling me of plans for drilling oil in the Salt Lake near Spiral Jetty. The deadline for protest is 13 of february. Of course, DIA has been informed and are meeting about it today.

I have been told by Lynn that the oil wells will not be above the water, but that means some kind of industrial complex of pipes and pumps beneath the water and on the shore. The operation would require roads for oil tank trucks, cranes, pumps etc. which produce noise and will severely alter the wild, natural place.

If you want to send a letter of protest to save the beautiful, natural Utah environment around the Spiral Jetty from oil drilling, the emails or calls of protest go to Jonathan Jemming jjemming@utah.gov

Every letter makes a big difference, they do take a lot of notice and know that publicity may follow. Since the Spiral Jetty has global significance, emails from foreign countries would be of special value.

They try to slip these drilling contracts under the radar, that’s why we found out so late, not through notification, but from a watchdog lawyer at the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, the group that alerted me to the land leasing for oil and gas near Sun Tunnels last May.
